Privacy Policy

It's Not Boring Here (itsboringhere.com) is a Jacksonville events guide with a free weekly email newsletter. This page explains what we collect, why, and who helps us run the site. The short version: we collect your email address only if you subscribe, we use basic analytics to see what's useful, and we don't sell your information.

If you subscribe to the newsletter

When you submit a signup form, we send your email address to beehiiv, the service that stores our subscriber list and sends the newsletter. Along with your address, beehiiv keeps:

• when you subscribed;
• which signup form and page you used, and which version of the consent wording was shown next to it;
• your subscription status (for example, subscribed or unsubscribed);
• whether newsletter emails are opened and links are clicked, which beehiiv reports to us as open and click rates.

We use this to send the newsletter, keep a record of your consent, honor unsubscribes, and understand in aggregate what readers find useful. Our own servers pass your email address to beehiiv and do not store or log it.

When you visit the site

Analytics (Google Analytics 4). We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand how the site is used: pages viewed, the site that referred you, general device and browser information, approximate location (city or region, which Google estimates from your IP address), and interactions such as viewing or submitting the newsletter form and whether the signup worked. We never send your email address to Google Analytics. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to recognize repeat visits. We do not see your IP address in our reports.

Hosting (Vercel). The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes standard request information to deliver and protect the site: your IP address, location derived from it, your browser's user agent, and the page requested. When you submit a signup form, our server logs whether it succeeded or failed and which form was used, never your email address.

Fonts. Pages load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, so your browser requests it from Google's servers, which receive your IP address.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your personal information.
• We don't share your email address with advertisers, sponsors, or event organizers.
• We don't use advertising cookies.

These companies process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies:

How long we keep it

• Newsletter: while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we don't email you again, unless you ask us to delete it entirely.
• Analytics: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, after which Google deletes it.
• Server logs: for the limited period Vercel retains them for our hosting plan.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
• Access, correct, or delete your subscriber data by replying to any newsletter or emailing us (below).
• Analytics: block or delete cookies in your browser, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

Children

The site and newsletter are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has subscribed, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We'll mention significant changes in the newsletter.
